The statute of limitations has run completely out, and I do not feel one single bit of bad about it.

This country, especially in the Civil Rights era, has done it's best to turn around the era of discrimination that followed the end of the Civil War and, while not perfect, has succeeded.

| Icing Queen ![]() | If their ancestors in the country of origin had been stronger people, they couldn't have been captured and sent to this country. So, see, they have only themselves to blame. Many poor Europeans came to this country as indentured servants, not much more than slaves. They somehow managed to survive and aren't asking for reparation. People are free to make decisions in their lives. Many Caucasian families lived in poverty and didn't have any money for college or the children had to leave school to make money to help the family. If people don't teach their kids that they need to better themselves, who fault is that? I believe charity begins at home. If I'm going to help someone out, I'd like it to be my kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. I'm tired of having my taxes raised for programs such as these. Tom, the $10,000 would never make it out of the country, except maybe to Columbia.

| Junior Officer ![]() | Why is it that nothing is mentioned in the article about those seeking reparation having tracked down all the people that ran the underground railroad to help the slaves. Surely if reparation is paid much of that money would go to those people that sacrificed their time, money and effort. My choice of reparation in lieu of money would be to offer the decendents seeking reparation a paid one way trip back to where their ancestors came from. Once there they could seek monetary reparation from the slave traders that sold them. As for feel good apologies I don't think so. The people that were brought here are dead & I'm not a ghost whisperer.
