Polls Support Bush on Immigration Proposals

"Allowing illegal immigrants who have jobs in the United States to apply for legal, temporary-worker status" - 63% of Americans Favor it

"Would you favor or oppose allowing illegal immigrants who have done the following to stay and work in the United States: paid a fine, been in the U.S. for at least five years, paid any back taxes they owe, can speak English, and have no criminal record?" 77% of Americans Favor this idea

"Would you favor or oppose a new program allowing foreign workers to work in the U.S. on a temporary basis and then return to their home country?" 61% of Americans Favor this idea


"Creating a program that would allow illegal immigrants already living in the United States for a number of years to stay in this country and apply for U.S. citizenship if they had a job and paid back taxes" 79% of Americans Favor this idea

"Do you think illegal immigrants coming to this country today take jobs away from American citizens, or do they mostly take jobs Americans don't want?" 53% of Americans say they take Unwanted Jobs

"If you had to choose, what do you think should happen to most illegal immigrants who have lived and worked in the United States for at least two years? They should be given a chance to keep their jobs and eventually apply for legal status. OR, They should be deported back to their native country." 61% of Americans think they should keep their jobs and stay

"Some people favor building a 700-mile-long fence along the U.S.-Mexico border because they say it would stop illegal immigrants from crossing the border into the U.S. Other people oppose the 700-mile-long fence because they say it would cost too much money and people would still find a way to get around it. What do you think? Do you favor or oppose building a 700-mile-long fence along the U.S.-Mexico border?" 66% of Americans oppose this idea.
