Peace activist found dead

I suppose it was inevitable that this would happen but I just heard on the news that the US peace activist who was kidnapped was found dead. They say concerns were raised when he did not appear in the latest video.

His church colleagues vow to continue operating in Iraq.
I may not agree with these people but it is their right to do as they wish but I don't think they have got the hint...

These cowards don't care which side of the fence you are sitting on, if you do not support Allah you’re a target.

Oh well not much hope for our guy either by looks of it...

My Palestinian friends told me their motto. "First Saturday, then Sunday." Simple as that. They would offer to take me home "if the jihad starts" while I was there. They would claim me as a second wife - and I would have been passed off as a Muslim woman. I told them all, thanks but no thanks.

"First Saturday, then Sunday." Remembering that atheists wouldn't even have a choice for conversion. They are not even considered human by the fundamentalists, apparently. Not that the women get much consideration above that.

"First Saturday, then Sunday." First the Jews, then the Christians. Tell me, does it sound like they worship the same God that we worship?

US hostage killed in Iraq

An American who was among four Christian activists kidnapped last year in Iraq has been killed, the US state department said today.
The FBI verified that a body found in Iraq on Friday morning was that of Tom Fox, 54, who was seized together with Briton Norman Kember and Canadians James Loney and Harmeet Singh Sooden. The four men were travelling with Canadian-based peace group Christian Peacemaker Teams.

"The family has been notified and our heartfelt condolences go out to the family," Noel Clay, a spokesman for the US state department, said.

On Tuesday, al-Jazeera television showed footage of the three other activists purportedly appealing to their governments to secure their release.

Allan Slater, a member of the Christian Peacemaker Teams, said at the time that he was disturbed not to see Mr Fox.

"We certainly are hopeful when we see three of our friends alive, but also it's very distressing that we didn't see Tom Fox, and I wouldn't want to hide that because I'm sure it's very distressful for Tom's family and friends as well," Mr Slater told The Canadian Press from Baghdad.

The previously unknown Swords of Righteousness Brigades claimed responsibility for kidnapping the four workers, who disappeared on November 26 last year.

The four had not been heard from since a videotape broadcast by al-Jazeera on January 28. A statement reportedly accompanying that tape said the hostages would be killed unless all Iraqi prisoners were released from US and Iraqi prisons. No deadline was set.

Christian Peacemaker Teams had been working in Iraq since October 2002, investigating allegations that US and Iraqi forces abused Iraqi detainees.

It's a shame, but I've been expecting it. We have that female over there too. Did they really think the terrorists would be grateful?

Jon, I'm sure you know, but for any who find that saying, "Saturday first, then Sunday," a bit obscure, it simply means they will wipe out the Jews first, then go for the Christians. This is a worldwide aim, of course, because they mean to secure the world to worship their allah. Also, we should be aware that "allah" is not the name of any god; it's simply the Arabic word that means "God," and so is also used by Christians.

They seem to think so, Katie. Ignorance is the worst enemy we have here. Worse than Islam, because it opens us up for them to move right in. A friend of mine for many years, once said Islam is very seductive. Not to me, but it does seem so to many. At that, I say "not to me," but when I first went to Israel and heard the Mezzuin's call, it does sound very romantic. Probably based on operettas such as Romberg's "Desert Song," and many movies and plays set there. Always that call brings back thoughts of starry nights, romance, the Taj Mahal - yes, she had a point.

Unfortunately, it was far from reality, as these peace loving activists have found out to their sorrow - and it has cost them their lives, it seems.

People need to read about and study Islam. Don't take my word for it - read the books!
