Default 9/11 Commission

I was not impressed when John Lehman (who defended her) stated on camera that everyone should stay out of their business. I am afraid it does not work that way their business is not private and it is everyone’s business. If this woman has any connection to the issues at hand then she should resign or be removed. At any rate I think the whole commission has become a circus of blame games. These panels are not far from being a trial and it should follow known standards and integrity of any court in the United States.

Quote:
WASHINGTON — The panel probing the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks is defending Jamie Gorelick (search).

Gorelick is causing a stir since she — a commissioner on the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United (search) States — served as the No. 2 official in the Justice Department from 1994 to 1997, during the Clinton administration.
Both the Clinton and Bush administrations are key targets of the investigation, and although the panel is comprised entirely of Washington insiders and elected officials, Gorelick, a Democrat, is the only one who was actively serving an administration during the time being investigated.

Gorelick recused herself from cross-examining some of the law enforcement and intelligence officials who testified before the commission on Tuesday, but to some, that's simply not enough.

"I think she has to recuse herself from everything," said Fox News senior judicial analyst, Andrew Napolitano.
But not everyone shares that view.

Republican commissioner John Lehman (search), former Navy secretary under President Reagan, told Fox News on Thursday that he does not agree that Gorelick should resign.

"Jamie Gorelick has made a very good contribution and she's one of the really savvy, nonpartisan of the bipartisan members," Lehman said.

But some critics have pointed out that Gorelick was one commissioner who was relentless -- perhaps a little too much so -- against Bush's national security adviser, Condoleezza Rice, during Rice's testimony last week.

This woman was part of the problem and will be helping write the final report. There is a glaring conflict of interest. If this commission wants any semblance of credibility, it will get rid of her and call her in as a witness and grill her unmercifully (like they did Condoleeza Rice) about her role in this whole mess.

Default Re: 9/11 Commission

The report this morning actually mentioned that she was a contributor to the "wall" that was under such scrutiny yesterday. She authored a memo that asserted the need for the wall (between the Intelligence and Investigative branches), and actually said it needed widening.

It's already been said that the open hearings are more of a show for the public than anything. So I think if they want this 'show' to have any credibility, she needs to step around that big long bench, and have a seat at that little table in the center......
