![]() | What is it that allows us to allow China to get away with its constant crimes against humanity? We are constantly right up in front of Russia demanding they democratize and follow the rules while our government allows China to get away with just about anything. Are we secret allies against the world are just a bunch of hypocrites and dunces? Insulting? Perhaps and maybe it should be. our current and past governments have given China a free ride on human rights and economic/copyright piracy. If Russia still had the GULAG would our president be over there? Hell no he would not, would they be our favorite trading partner? Nope. Would Bush go for a ride with Putin in his old car? Nope. If Russia executed people for economic crimes would we be warm to them? Nope. So why do we cuddle the most populated and maybe the most oppressive nation in the world? Does Wal-Mart hold such sway on our Government that they will not denounce China? All this talk of freedom and we do nothing about 1/6th or more of the population of the planet... Every time Bush says Freedom for the world and states nothing about China I feel a little shame inside. Perhaps I have a bit more honor then him and our current government because if I were him I could not say the word while kissing up to China. For example: 4/01/04: Quote:
Or perhaps: Japan Times 1999: Quote:
In 2001 and 2002 and most likely 03,04 and 05 China executed more people then all the rest of the world combined. Reason: Violent crime Drugs offences Separatism Aiding Tibet border crossings Bribery Pimping Embezzlement Tax fraud Insurance fraud Stealing petrol Selling harmful foodstuffs Disrupting the stock market source BBC: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asi...ic/1425570.stm If Russia executed the current Oil baron they sent to Jail the entire world would come down on them. If China executes in people in public for stealing gasoline no one cares. Bush goes on preaching freedom while basically kissing Chinese butt. Are we scared of China? Does our super rich corporations set policy on China such as Wal-Mart? I cringe everytime I hear them spew the weak word freedom, for they have no idea what they are talking about in our government or are cowards and hypocrites. Or bought off? Is shameful and we should all be shamed by it. There are millions of hits on the internet about China and oppression and human rights abuse, much worse then Saddam.

| Razak's Roughneck ![]() | What "Freedom" ? Didn't they just enact "Real ID" into law? And people were hoping that Congress would come to it's senses and repeal PATRIOT. Like a Marine buddy of mine said at his "send off party" before he was deployed to the sandbox :: "Constitution? What Constitution?"

![]() | Freedom I guess is a good thing as long as the work is not too difficult or pisses off lobbyist. Freedom has a cost in Washington, the amount depends on how full you can make campaign chest.

| Junior Officer ![]() | Just like in a marriage there are some issues that you will win and some you will lose. It takes time to know which is which. For instance I look at China as not having the same mindset concerning humanity & doing humane things as we like to pride ourselves on doing. I look at their military capability in terms of manpower. Then there is trade which has offset what used to be bought from Japan, Mexico, and many other countries. Lots of reasons not to want to poke at what could easily be a real threat, especially when we are stretched thin now. Looking to the WTO & the UN for resolve to the way China is operating isn't reaping any success. That is another reason to tread lightly when it comes to demanding change from that country. Russia a whole differant story. They are in the process of bouncing back & forth with how democracy works. Financially Russia is dependent on decent relationships with the rest of the world. China can sit back and do pretty much what it wants to in every arena because the rest of the world is sorting out problems.

| Racy Ol' Lady ![]() | Caldric, I hear you loud and clear, but you must remember this is the same country that buys oil - lots of oil - from Saudi, thereby paying for the terrorism we are spending lives and money to fight. We are used to supporting both sides of any given issue, it seems - and this is not improving or changing.
