Default At The Brink Of Nuclear War.

At The Brink of Nuclear War.

There are those of us that remember America was tittering on the edge of a Nuclear War with Russia in the year of 1962. For thirteen days, America stood on thin ice when it had noticed that the little country of CUBA began assembling nuclear missile sites on its soil. In the ensuing days, this very act of a small country, under the leadership of Castro, had threatened America with its weapons of Mass Destruction.

In the end, America had survived once again, but how many times has America been on the Brink of destruction, how many times has our country faced destruction and survived?

No one knows for sure, given the power of the internet, one will never know the answer. We can research all we like and never come up with the answer to this question. So why is it that I even post this topic? Do I encourage you to invest time to research this, No!

Some time ago, I posted a topic regarding ‘How does one go about solving problems in our lives’, most of you have answered that topic because, generally, we all grew up and learned how to solve problems without even thinking about how we solve them. Its second nature to us but there are many problems in life that need more ‘Thinking Caps’.

The fact that I had brought up October 1962 and nuclear war was not something out of thin air, No, I had a reason in bringing that up because I had watched the movie ‘Thirteen Days’ with actors Kevin Costner, Bruce Greenwood and Steven Culp. I had seen this movie many times and it never fails to bring out some emotions in me, that shall I say,’ grown men don’t cry’. Am not ashamed to admit that I shed some tears while watching this.

Its not surprising that movies are scripted to bring out emotions in all of us, some are scripted to bring Laughter, Saddness, Sorrow and still others are scripted to Frighten us.
Some are even scripted to teach us things that we have forgotten as children, some have taught us right from wrong, others have shown that we need to seek out solutions to problems that, if we are not careful, may cause our destruction because we have failed to learn from out past mistakes.

There is a reason that I am posting this, and if you get the time to ponder all this, maybe, just maybe, I will continue to expand this topic.

I'm not sure I get the reason but I was very fascinated by the statement

"others have shown that we need to seek out solutions to problems that, if we are not careful, may cause our destruction because we have failed to learn from out past mistakes."

which, IMHO, is one of the gems from your post!

Sorry for slightly dragging this Off-Topic :: but coming from a land which is ringed with neighbours one has fought wars of survival over - I'd say we've faced it (destruction) every single day since existence

Now back to topic

Phoenix...

Been watching Fail Safe or Seven Days in May lately???

Kidding...I hear what you are saying. When I was a young teen, from about 12 to about 18, my biggest fear was nuclear war. I used to have nightmares about it.
