| Enlisted Warrior ![]() | My opinion...H E L L no!!!!! They were offered the chance to participate and become a part of ONE Iraq. Instead they "boycott" the elections. Now that they see this is actually gonna work and the insurgents are losing ground (ie the insurgent camp attack, the ground attack in Southern Iraq that failed, and numerous smaller incidents where these guys are getting there butts handed to them.) They now want to try and be a part of it. I could go on and on on this topic. Both by my own opinion and what I have been seeing here with dealing with these yocals, but I wont. My rant here (I feel) was enough...lol Sidenote...One thing I have been seeing. The insurgents are losing. We know it and now they are starting to see it. They are getting more bolder in attacks to try and justify 1 victory to try and rekindle and justify their existance. |

| Senior Treadhead ![]() | As a major population base in the country, it's impossible to off-handedly dismiss the Sunnis. However, to simply forgive and forget, and "give" them seats of power would be a mistake. I say negotiate with them. Get them involved in the democratic process that has taken hold in that country. Get them to renounce these foreign insurgents, actually help to drive them out of Iraq (back to whatever hole in Syria or Iran they crawled out of), and show them that the only way to gain power in a democratic society is by the will of the people through their vote. Since they refused to participate (and actually attempted to hinder) in this process they are so suddenly interested in, they have to be taught how it works. It's kinda like the kid on the playground that pouted and didn't want to stand in line during the "team-choosing" process. When the game starts he now wants to play. "Sorry kid, you'll have to wait until we choose sides again." Just don't alienate him, keep him involved.... Cause he just may become your greatest enemy if you mistreat him....

| Gun Truck Gunner (MK19) ![]() | The sunnis had a choice as does any citizen in a democracy... they chose violence over politics. Now they will not be involved in the drafting of their national constitution. No exception should be made. They want power again as they had under the Saddam regime. Now they will have to be powerless because of their decisions. They are not at the mercy of the sh'iat majority after oppressing them for so long. As they say... what comes around goes around.
