Geragos hasn't won a high profile trial in a very long time - It will be interesting to see if Geragos is not going to suggest inadequate preparation/counsel as basis for appeal. I don't think humble pie is why he apologized for not being prepared for sentencing.

No doubt about it - Scott Peterson was scum. But the circumstantiality of the case with lack of physical evidence would have made it very hard to have come up with a 1st degree conviction much less a death penalty. Yep, I would have "hung" the jury based on what the prosecution did not present.

From the little of this I've seen, and that only in headlines, I wondered about that too, Cal. I can see sentencing him to life in case something comes up later that would exonerate him - but I didn't watch, listen or read anything about it since the bodies were found. Location was ****ing - but not truly evidencial, IMO.

I'm afraid it was tried under the public eye with entirely too much of the grim details, including pictures, and too little real evidence. Life without parole is what I would have insisted on.

I heard a bit about this on radio today, going to the vet's for medicine for Max and Argos. The jury wanted all the grim pictures again. Why? This was for sentencing; the verdict was in. Very strange bunch to want to look at that stuff again!

Too much publicity nationwide for a case that had local interest. The media is unbelievable!
