As much as some of you want to demonize all those who practice the Muslim religion, the vast majority of them are REGULAR PEOPLE who are SICKENED by the acts of extremists.

It is not about religion in that regard, it is about the human character and the compassion the majority of human beings have for others. What is sad is that the relatively tiny fraction of the worlds Muslims who commit these atrocities are somehow representative. They are not.

The closest I can find to that claim says 93%, and while some will say I'm splitting hairs, I should point out that supporting kidnapping is not the same as backing murder, especially since ransoming hostages is a well established tradition in the arab world.

The Ken Bigley killing is depressing. From where I'm sitting, the smart move would have been to release him, in the hope of driving a wedge between British and American public opinion over handling Iraq. Now it's becoming increasingly clear that strategy isn't a major consideration for the kidnappers. Tony Blair has said that they won't 'prevail', which implies that he thinks they have an aim beyond seizing and murdering westerners and their allies. If you assume that they don't, then they're prevailing pretty well so far...

Thanks for the link, Joker. I've read that about ransoming hostages before and they say we're money hungry! At least we make products to sell and profit from, instead of kidnapping people for ransom!
