The dwindling march of the penguins is a sign that the world's oceans are in trouble, scientists are warning.

A worrying fall in numbers of the Antarctic birds means that global warming, oil spills and depleted fisheries are taking their toll on the seas.



Scientists are worried the falling numbers of penguins is a sign the world's oceans are in trouble


Conservationist P. Dee Boersma, author of a paper on penguin numbers, said: 'We thought many penguins would be safe because they are not that close to people. And that's not true.'
