I have two dogs, and I'm sure that some of you do as well. animals, and dogs in general have this sense of understanding. Small children do things to my pups like tug on their hair and ears and such that if an adult were to do that, well, lets just say that someone would be going home unhappy. With the kids, they just stand there and look up as if they know that our "pups" are to be tolerated like their own. Don't ask me why, it just is.

One of my friends has two cats and a dog, and every time their newborn soncries in his crib, all of them herd into the room, my buddy says it's almost like they're protective of the baby.

No, dads are good for that - at least SNP was ! He always was willing to do (and usually did) both the 2 AM and 4 AM feedings and diaper changes for all four of ours - Guess if he pokes his head in here sometime, we should all give him some karma!

I know the feeling. When my son Ryan was born, I changed my work schedule and went to nights because my ex wanted to go back to work. I watched him all day and got my sleep while he was napping. Feedings, diaper changes, taking him out for strolls to the park, it was great. I was really feeling bad when he finally went to school and I didn't have to watch him all day. I missed it, but we got really close as he was growing up. I guess I'm just a softy when it comes down to my children. He is now a strong, intelligent, dedicated young man serving his Country in the Coast Guard. We always had dogs and they were as protective of him as I was.

I like that, get karma for something I did ages ago. LOL. Hmmmm, hey I once tried to drag a stray puppy home when I was about 6 years old. That worth anything? LOL

Our terrier wants to take care of everyone's babies...the cat's, the other dog's, human babies. Its their cry or wimper that brings her running. And if I don't come to see what's up...she will come get me. I have to tell her over and over...its OKAY...THAT'S WHAT BABIES DO...THEY CRY...LET THEIR MOM'S TAKE CARE OF THEM.

She licks the kittens and puppies so much that they get sopping wet. Ish.
