Deja vu (the Nam War - only there were some real bombs back then)

Series of faux bombs found at Oregon military recruiting offices

FBI, military agency pool $20,000 for information leading to arrest of ‘white rose’ suspects

“DIE WEISSE ROSE” has been found written or painted on each hoax bomb.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is matching a $10,000 reward by the Defense Criminal Investigative Service for information leading to the capture and conviction of those responsible for a string of hoax bomb threats at several Oregon military recruiting stations.

The total reward is $20,000.

There have been four incidents, starting on March 10, 2007, in which a hoax bomb was found at an Armed Forces Recruiting Station in Portland. Two weeks later, on March 24, another device was found at a U.S. Marine Corps Recruiting Station in Salem. On Aug. 11, a third device was found at an Armed Forces Recruiting Center in Astoria. The last device found was discovered on Nov. 18 at a U.S. Army Recruiting Center in Salem.

Bomb squads in each of the areas determined that the devices weren't real bombs. In each case the words “DIE WEISSE ROSE,” which is German for “the white rose,” were written or painted on the device.

According to the FBI, “Die Weisse Rose” was the name of a small group of anti-Hitler activists in World War II Germany.

“The FBI takes bomb threats very seriously – whether or not the device is a hoax,” said David Miller, special agent in charge of the FBI in Oregon. “The threat of violence is real.”
