Israeli aircraft fires missile into Gaza Strip

An Israeli aircraft fired a missile into the Gaza Strip on Thursday targeting Palestinian militants three days after a suicide bomber killed five people outside a shopping center in an Israeli coastal town.

Palestinian witnesses said the missile was fired toward a group of militants who were training with rocket-propelled grenade launchers in an open area near the southern town of Khan Younis. There were no immediate reports of casualties.
The Israeli army said it was targeting suspected Palestinian rocket launching sites to prevent further rocket fire into the Jewish state.
The strike followed Israeli vows to launch a military response to Monday's suicide attack by the Islamic Jihad militant group, and was the latest of several strikes in Gaza, which Israeli forces quit in September after 38 years of occupation.
On Wednesday, an Israeli air strike killed a senior militant from the Popular Resistance Committees, a coalition of militant groups. Ten people were also hurt in that strike.
