Post [News Feed] X-ray Technology Sheds Light On Ancient Stone Inscriptions
Cornell University scientists and humanists have teamed up to demonstrate a novel method for recovering ancient text by zapping and mapping worn inscriptions using X-ray fluorescence imaging and the Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source. XRF is a nondestructive chemical analysis technique that is widely used in geology, archaeology and materials science.
