| Hos-style ![]() | December 15, 2004 Better fill 'er up if you're in favor of this trickle-down theory. Gasoline prices in Minnesota have experienced a three-week slide -- as much as 20 cents a gallon in some areas. The average price of unleaded gas is $1.67 per gallon statewide. That's a far cry from when drivers paid upwards of $2 at the pump in late October. "I'm excited," Bart Paynter, 26, said Monday, when the price for unleaded was $1.59 at a Holiday store at 24th and Washington Avs. N. in Minneapolis. "I hope it sticks around." For the sixth straight week the price of unleaded gas fell across the country. Nationwide, the average is down six cents to $1.85 per gallon, the Energy Department said Monday. In the Midwest, the average cost of gas is about $1.73. In the Twin Cities, the average cost of regular gas is about $1.61 per gallon, said industry watcher Jason Toews, whose Web site, TwinCitiesGasPrices.com, tracks prices across the metro. Some competing stations on his site reportedly sold gas Tuesday as low as $1.53, along Hwy. 65 in Blaine, Mounds View and Spring Lake Park, to as high as $2.05 at a Shell station in Brooklyn Center. Dawn Duffy, a spokeswoman for AAA Minneapolis, said a mild fall has lowered demand for crude oil. "It's been a huge stroke of luck for motorists," she said. Terry Collins |

| Banned ![]() | Okay, so your gas is cheap in Minnesota . In my neighborhood in California it is now down to 1.97/gal - not "bad" when one considers that in mid summer it was running about 2.60/gal. But then I remember when I started driving and it was all of 0.35/gal. |

Gas was around $.80 when I started driving... I remember when I thought $1.10 was ridiculous. ![]() | |
