Bjorn MVPA19212 Meadows of Dan, Virginia (Too small for a 4th of July parade, but we do have fireworks!) | Civilians | Turbines are cool. I would love to find a little APU to play with here at the house. Like the Dixie Chopper group, I would love to have a turbine powered lawn tractor. The neighbors think my -1C whistler is loud, wait 'till they hear me spooling up a turbine! I can hear them now "Don't you get tired of cutting that grass every day?" | Civilians | I seem to remember a turbine powered M37 was for sale a few years ago, it was a prototype evaluated by the Army. | Enlisted Warrior ![]() | I'm pretty sure the Abrams is using JP8 currently, which is the same thing used for Army aviation craft though I know is can pretty much burn any type of liquid fuel including pure alcohol with varying degrees of effectiveness. |
