| Civilians | Oh yeah, I can vouch for Gene's knowledge too. He's not as old as Tom, but pretty damn close. | Civilians | well.. I found a skot 8x8 (OT-64?) wheeled APC on the site for 15K euro. Hmm.. considering the price of a similar-sized Stryker, or even a smaller V-100's nowadays.. I want it badly. But, don't know much about it. Other than it is big, green, and armored. I wonder if such a thing would be fun to drive on the highway or around town like the Deuce is? -- Patrick Jankowiak Field Application Engineer III ST Microelectronics 1310 Electronics Drive M/S 3764 Carrollton, TX 75006 Desk: 972-466-8763 Fax: 972-466-7170 Mobile: 214-763-4764 ===Mil-Veh is a member-supported mailing list=== To unsubscribe, send e-mail to: <mil-veh-off@mil-veh.org> To switch to the DIGEST mode, send e-mail to <mil-veh-digest@mil-veh.org> To reach a human, contact <ack@mil-veh.org> |

Its not such a big deal with teany tiny armored cars like ferrets but still nice. When you get to that size....oh yeah...an extra set of eyes is nice. Besides, what you can do is then train some friend to drive and he gets a kick out of driving something different and you get a kick riding in the turret doing the dashing tank commander thing to the leggy 20 somethings in the Jeep at the light... -- -- ---------------------------------------------------------------- - Data Center Operations Group - - http://web.turner.com/data_center/ - ---------------------------------------------------------------- - Ryan Montieth Gill One CNN Center SE0813 E - - Internet Technologies -- Data Center Operations Manager - - Hours 11am - 7pm Mon - Fri (8Sdc, 10Sdc IT@3Ndc) - - Cellular: 404-545-6205 e-mail: Ryan.Gill@cnn.com - - Office: 404-588-6191 - ---------------------------------------------------------------- - Emergency Power-off != Door release! - ---------------------------------------------------------------- ===Mil-Veh is a member-supported mailing list=== To unsubscribe, send e-mail to: <mil-veh-off@mil-veh.org> To switch to the DIGEST mode, send e-mail to <mil-veh-digest@mil-veh.org> To reach a human, contact <ack@mil-veh.org> |

| Civilians | The SKOT is based on the Tatra 813 chassis - engine, trans (to my knowledge), axles, running gear in general is the same thing. I tooled around a bit in a T813, and they're pigs to drive, but lots of fun just the same. Expect 1 - 4 mpg on them. I'd expect, personally, that you can get a SKOT cheaper than 15K Euro...back when I lived in the CR I had two Tatra 805's, and kept getting T813's offered to me at scrap prices. One major problem is parts availability..... | Civilians | It would always be the parts, since we don't have them in the US. 1-4MPG, that's really low, but maybe it is common for light armor. The 4 I can see, but the 1 bugs me. So,what parts generally are most troublesome on these monsters? It's very interesting.
