| Civilians | Well, I picked up my new 5 ton today and noticed it doesn't have a Mack engine like I thought. Which is fine but it raises some questions. We have one M54A2 and now this M55A2 that the plate on the dash says is made by Mack. My question is what is the difference between the two trucks. They appear to be the same. Both have a continental multifuel engine. Appear to be the same in every way. The deuce is going for sure. It looks so puny next to the 5 ton :-) Joe Trapp ===Mil-Veh is a member-supported mailing list=== To unsubscribe, send e-mail to <mil-veh-off (AT) mil-veh (DOT) org> To reach a human, contact <ackyle (AT) gmail (DOT) com> Visit the searchable archives at http://www.mil-veh.org/archives/ |

| Civilians | M55A2 is supposed to be a long wheel base truck.........if its the same as your M54 than you have the wrong data plate in your truck, chances are it might have been involved in a cab swap.............seen this before Jeff Houghton ROLLING LINE HAUL MUSEUM http://linehaulrvn.tripod.com 1951 M37 1953 M62 1968 M52A2 1969 M54A2C 1970 M35A2C 1971 M35A2 1972 M35A2 ---- GotaM35 <gotam35 (AT) joetrapp (DOT) com> wrote: > Well, I picked up my new 5 ton today and noticed it doesn't have a Mack > engine like I thought. | Civilians | Well here's the kicker. I have noticed on a lot of the trucks that have come from GSA that parts of the data plates have been inscribed instead of stamped. I mean inscribed with a little tool like you mark you tools with. Very poor hand writing too. Is this what the military did or is this something other government agencies did after they picked the stuff up from the feds. On some of these tags even the capacities are hand written. "Serial" numbers are hand written. Is this normal? Joe Trapp PS. My truck is definitely a regular wheel base truck. They sold a long wheel base one a few years ago and it was very long. ----- Original Message ----- From: <flyn3nvt (AT) adelphia (DOT) net> > M55A2 is supposed to be a long wheel base truck.........if its the same as > your M54 than you have the wrong data plate in your truck, chances are it > might have been involved in a cab swap.............seen this before > Jeff Houghton ===Mil-Veh is a member-supported mailing list=== To unsubscribe, send e-mail to <mil-veh-off (AT) mil-veh (DOT) org> To reach a human, contact <ackyle (AT) gmail (DOT) com> Visit the searchable archives at http://www.mil-veh.org/archives/ |

| Civilians | What's the big deal with the tires - just bring a shovel, a decent sized jack and your one inch air wrench! Actually they are not so bad after you have done a few. Just don't try and dead lift them.
