| Civilians |  Re: [MV] Army Rank Question SFC is simply called "SARGE" or Sergeant.. A 1ST Sergeant is called top..as is the MASTER Sergeant and Sergeant Major..SGM. I am a SGM ..and am also called "TOP".. E7 and above are sometimes called "Chief"... The Navy E7 is a Chief..so, I guess it is a carry-over.?? MARINES - E-7 is called GUNNY...
