One has to wonder why this with a newer engine (diesel) and some
other minor changes wouldn't work well for the purpose. It's large
enough to carry crew and a bunch of kit, small, light, capable of
going down narrow places and would probably fit inside the back of
several of our larger logistics helo's.

The folding roll cage is a good protection method for the crew that
the Mule does not have and it has the benefits of a jeep in terms of
size and weight.
