| Civilians | Gentlemen I'm in the process of buying a M-105 trailer for my Humvee. When I get it I intend to replace the trailer tires with Humvee tire. I'm doing this primarily to lower the trailer bed so it will be more level with the bed of the Humvee. The second reason is that I would be able to use the trailer tires as spares for Humvee. Right now I am considering one of two options: Option-1 Make custom humvee rims to match the lug nuts on the trailer. Option-2 Make a custom trailer plates to match the lug nuts with the holes on a Humvee rim. I think I would prefer option-2 at this point since it will allow me to change tires more easily but I don't know how easy it is to modify the trailer plates. I've talked to several people already about this but I would like some more opinions before I proceed further. So here are my questions 1. Is this safe to do? 2. Which do you think is the better of the two options. 3. If I decide to go with option-2, what is the best way to do this and what would be the estimated cost. 4. With this configuration what do you estimate the safest maximum load capacity could be carried? I've been told I can go up to 3 tons including trailer weight. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. By the way, the max load listed on a Humvee radial tire is 3,850lb. I hope this helps.
