| Racy Ol' Lady ![]() | We'll get it too. They are indeed a vanishing breed. Bob was 18½ when he landed in Marseilles; he'll be 82 next month. He was the youngest in his Company. He was going to train for Airborne, but they needed bodies and grabbed him for Europe. Thanks for posting this, Jim.

| Monkey Mouse ![]() | I think each war/conflict creates its own "band of brothers" - many of them. Whenever a group of young men go through a war together, a bond is forged that the rest of us can't truly comprehend. We saw a band of brothers in the pics that scotto's son sent home.

| Racy Ol' Lady ![]() | Yes, we did, didn't we. I think it's a bit more even than going through the war with one another. I know when I've talked with any of the men with military backgrounds, they all seem to step into an already-forged bond with Bob, and he with them. They always ask after him; it's been very good for him. I think it must be a bond that bridges generations and makes brothers of all veterans. Katie, I doubt any non-military person can ever quite understand it -- but we can see and appreciate it, can't we!

| Monkey Mouse ![]() | I've seen it all my life and have noticed that there is a tradition on respect from one veteran to another. They bonded strongest with those of their "own war" though because of similiar shared experiences, each war being different.

| Racy Ol' Lady ![]() | I sent the article to my oldest son. He's just watched "Band of Brothers," and said he'll read the book.
