Default Office hangs when opening from file, but not when opening program

I am using Windows 2000 sp4 and Office 2002 sp3. When I try to open a
file using Access, Word, Excel (or even Acrobat, I know, it's not
office...) by going to that file in my directory and double clicking,
the program intermitently freezes, sometimes while opening sometimes
just after opening.

However, when I open the program first and then use the File - Open
command to open the file, the program works just fine.

I have tried updating my software on the MS website, uninstalling and
re-installing it, and searching google and web forums, however nothing
has resolved this issue. I have checked with the developer forum for
IBM (I use Lotus Notes as this is a work machine) and again have not
been able to resolve the problem.

Any suggestions for troubleshooting or help searching for answers woudl
be most appreciated. Thank you.

First a point of order - posting your full address to a newsgroup is a very
stupid thing to do - this isn't MS, it's a peer-to-peer Usenet group and
you'll now be on the list of every spammer in existence.

The answer is simple: - you either have a full licence which you've neglected
to activate or you've a trial which has now expired. In the case of the
former, activate; the latter, pay to activate.
