[Discussion] Karma Rankings

As you may have noticed, the karma rankings (those lines that show when you put the mouse over the karma gems) are a little dull and not exactly relating to the military theme of the site. Currently, the rankings are:

Rep Level - Comment
0 - User is an unknown quantity at this point
100 - User is on a distinguished road
500 - User will become famous soon enough
1,000 - User has a spectacular aura about
2,500 - User is a jewel in the rough
5,000 - User is just really nice
7,500 - User is a glorious beacon of light
10,000 - User is a name known to all
15,000 - User is a splendid one to behold
30,000 - User has much to be proud of
50,000 - User has a brilliant future
100,000 - User has a reputation beyond repute

What we want are your suggestions for new rankings. I can change both the Rep Level and the comments, so if you want those changing it can happen.

A policy of peer-review will be used to decide which suggestions will be made final - if you like somebody's suggestions say "yay", or if you dont
say "nay". This thread will stay open until everyone is happy, but remember that Jason and I will probably have the end word.

Thats the formalities, lets hear your suggestions!

I agree about the comments. They should be more in line with the military site that we are. The military members will be better at that part.

Just a thought - what about no comments?

I like the rep levels as they are.

1. You can get rid of the stars and centipede segments. I like just a number.

2. And go back to calling it Karma..."reputation" is...um...retarded?

Wonder if there might be a way, without offending a given branch, to name the increments in accordance with military ranks starting at E-1 on up to 0-5, in some way different from the member insignia?

I don't mind things the way they are, actually... but am not opposed in any sense to changing that for the better.

How about when we hit the next magical karma # that a box pops up and we put what we want to in it?

Are you guys talking about the little colored rectangles under the reputation thing? And what are the lines anth listed in his post? And what are the stars and centipedes?? If I mouse my mouse over those rectangles all I see is the persons name. Is there more that I'm not seeing or am I just looking in the wrong place??
