| Civilians | A force is present among the players union demanding a vote on the $42.5 cap. It is lead by a solid group of younger players 8 yrs. in and earlier, that firmly believe that a better deal can't be made this spring or later. The deal could have been done at $45, however, a group of 4 owners blocked it (according to the charter it would take 8, but this is what I hear). A plan is afoot (spurned on by several owners) for members of the players union to demand a vote. These rumblings will be made public no later than tomorrow morning if not sooner (players in Europe are being notified). If this rebellion takes hold a vote will be held electronically via the NHLPA members only website to determine an acceptance of the $42.5 or not. There may be a season (if you can call it that). More to come. By the way, when it comes to "taking it to the bank", don't be like me and forget your account number. |
