Correction (I misread the second word of motto, sorry):

The crest mottoes for both ^ units as listed by DoD match, but not the crests themselves... I suppose it is possible that the crests we are showing could be from old/inactivated and then reactivated units, or something?

Given the hundreds and hundreds of mottoes, some of which are identical for two or more different units, I suppose the reference directory is bound to be wrong sometimes.

I'll just leave the problems alone until the end when more research can get done once the bulk are confirmed.

Actually just found the match for 81. found it on saunders military insignia web site. It's the 101st support bn

I know it gets hard. I've been using the same us army motto page. Then I try and verify via the us army crest website or some of the hallmarked companies.

On duntitled 83. I would wager it has something to do with the 25th Infantry division because of the lightning bolt. #84, the patch says a Cavalry division possible the 1st and the 3 could be something to do with its 3rd brigade. Sure wish i owned a distinctive unit insignia book

Looks like we'll glean roughly 60-85% or so of the remaining crests from DoD source, that ain't too shabby.

Then will come the refinements like you are doing... but, at least we'll be able to knock off a good percentage of the ones left beforehand.
