Post Northrop Grumman Partners W/ DHS Technologies on $240 Mil Contract for High Mobility

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. (Map) - ORANGEBURG, N.Y., June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Military contracting companies Northrop Grumman Corporation and Rockland County, NY based DHS Technologies have recently been awarded a $240 million contract to provide medium and large, high-mobility tactical operations centers that can be rapidly deployed for command, control and communications on the battlefield.

Under the Army's Standardized Integrated Command Post Systems (SICPS) Family of Trailer Mounted Support System (TMSS) contract, Northrop Grumman and DHS Technologies' subsidiary DHS Systems will produce, integrate and deliver suites of shelters and trailers, complete with climate control and power for lighting, computers and large screen displays as mobile command posts. The systems are being fielded to all U.S. Army maneuver brigade combat teams, including units in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The firm, fixed-price contract, initially valued at $240 million, was awarded by the Army Aviation & Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama on May 30. The contract will focus only on the Army's combat brigades, and does not include the sustainment brigades, Army Reserve and National Guard. In this respect, the Army is expecting to place additional orders over the next five years.

The SICPS/TMSS Medium and Large command posts will use the Deployable Rapid Assembly Shelters(DRASH) manufactured by DHS Systems. The Medium will provide 442 square feet and the Large will provide more than 1,100 square feet of usable space, with set up times of less than 40 minutes. The systems are supported by high-mobility trailers specifically engineered to tow behind the LMTV and FMTV vehicles. The trailers provide electrical power and environmental control capable of operating in temperatures from -50 to +131 degrees Fahrenheit. Northrop Grumman produces the command post platform that completes the SICPS/TMSS suite.

As the prime contractor, Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems sector also will be responsible for program management and integrated logistics support. The companies will share responsibility for testing and mission assurance.

Although this is a major contract for DHS Technologies, the company had already been deploying its shelters and trailers with U.S. military and NATO forces for more than 20 years. Currently there are more than 12,000 shelters and over 3,500 trailers in service around the globe.

"The military has already been using our DRASH products for years," says DHS Technologies CEO and DHS Systems founder A. Jon Prusmack. "We are excited to be able to work with Northrop Grumman to provide an even more complete system to our men and women serving with the military."

The SICPS (infrastructure) portion of the command post will be manufactured at DHS Systems' 110,000 square foot headquarters facility in Orangeburg, New York, and the TMSS (high-mobility trailer) portion will be manufactured at the company's new 130,000 square-foot Huntsville, Alabama production facility, which opened earlier this year. More than 400 people are employed with DHS Systems worldwide.

DHS Technologies has also recently received a $20 million order from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Special Forces through its UK subsidiary, MilSys (UK). The order includes delivery of rapidly-deployable tactical command post systems and medical facilities. MilSys (UK) has teamed with Rolls Royce, who will provide the power generator and power management system for this contract.
