| Enlisted Warrior ![]() | War with Iran could go terribly wrong The beleaguered Bush administration may try to escape mounting woes by launching an air campaign against Iran to whip up war fever among Americans before mid-term elections, boosting Republican fortunes. But this is dangerous business because, like the supposed jolly little colonial adventure in Iraq, a war with Iran could go terribly wrong. http://www.breakthesilence.ca/politics/January%2005/IranWrong.htm |

| NCO ![]() | Unlike the Clinton mob, I don't believe the Bush administration will use force as a smoke screen for another agenda. The general concensus among the members of the UN Security Council is that a nuclear Iran would be a very, very bad thing. If Russia & China are concerned with Iran getting nukes, then it is a real crisis, since they seem to support anything that annoys the US. |

| Non-Commissioned Officer ![]() | Fighting a War in Iraq and Iran would be a bad thing, but we need to call a spade a spade here. If Iran has nukes, we need to do something. this man has called for Israel to be taken off the map. He's worse then the midget in N. Korea. The bulk of the world is behind gettin rid of this scum, but we need to proceed carefully. Sadly it's not a question of if it will happen, but when it will happen.

| Enlisted ![]() | It could be easy if we just hire a Macedonian cavalry commanded by a young Alexander to crush the Persian line...errrr ooops wrong time. Iran is doing everything to provoke the world into a west vs east global war. Islam vs the World. Islamic radicalism is the spark toward the ultimate goal of establishing a global caliphate. These taunts are similar to North Korea's taunts. Sanctions against North Korea are what is bringing them to the negotiation table. Iran could also be persuaded in the same way. Back to the original post, war with Iran could go wrong however, would it really be wrong. ![]() |

| Daft. ![]() | Everyone knows that if America goes to war, the UK will be there to lend a hand. However, the US has a heck of a lot more in its inventory - loads more aircraft, loads more tanks, loads more troops. Generally, the joys of being a bigger country. Right now, the UK is sending more troops over to Afghanistan, as well as our troops in Iraq and everywhere else. Personally, I think that if the US were to go to war with Iran in the next 18 months the UK couldnt help out. Theres been talk of us pulling out of Iraq in the summer (a General I think it was said theres been no plans after the next rotation (when asked about Prince Harry in the front line)), but even if we did withdraw our troops it would take a while for resting and refitting of those troops before we commit to another war. One other thing. Its getting to the stage where the British public is war-weary. We went into Afghanistan, then jumped into Iraq. Getting the usual reports every other day of more troops killed. While that happens more often in the US, I doubt there is as much impact as over here with everyone being closer together. My view on the subject - get Afghanistan at least cleaned up. I dont like the thought of "leaving a trail of destruction" through the region. Go in, get bad-guys out, rebuild what we have destroyed, restore order and when the job is completely done you move out. Not go in, get rid of bad-guys, move out, start on next regime. |
