I've mods, and cheat codes that make game play AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a 'gruesome' mod that let's you just..... Well.... The name tells you all. IMHO, D3 is the best first person shooter out there. Here is one of many things you get to encounter. ![]() |

| Dazed and Confused ![]() | I remember when it 1st came out, I built a machine specifically to play it (AMD Athlon Barton XP2800, 1gig DDR400 RAM, 256MB Ati Rad 9700pro etc etc - all over clocked so the machine reads as an XP3200!). Started the game and thought beautifull graphics and then got bored far to quickly! I love FPS's and DOOM3 - IS NOT THE BEST but is vey pretty! Everyone remembers the old favourites but there was one game I used to love playing in LAN matches many moons ago. Anyone remember the original version of the game called SiN? It was a massive game, huge levels and a great plot. Also the multiplayer level called 'Paradox' was a barf inducing optical illusion fantasy level very much based on the works of the artist E R Esher. Very frusting to chase some one through a door only to find him exiting miles away across a level and walking down a flight of stairs whilst upside down and above you!!!! Another sadly forgotten game was Star Trek: Klingon Honor Guard. Some truely great levels (including a full inside and out D7 star cruiser from the films/TV shows). It boasted very good graphics for the time, but would only play on machines that sported either a Voodoo or PowerVR (remember those?) graphics accelerator. One unique feature of the game I remeber was the ability to play dead on the ground and wait for an enemy to pass you by, you then simply stood up and lamped them one with a Bat'leth from behind! Lead me to simply double tap anything lying on the ground - just to be sure! But for pure unadulterated fun fun and cheeky jollies it had to be Duke Nukem. Brilliantly funny game with many sly in jokes and LOTS of secret levels... Anyone else find the level with the 2001 black monolith (complete with music!)? ![]() It also had a level with Luke Skywalker hung upside down (blooded and minus his arms!) dressed as a Stormtrooper without his helmet. Even the original Doom marine made a very brief appearence hidden in a passage way. Duke remarks on the way past "thats one dead marine!". New games may be nice to look at, but I can't help but feel the old timers had far better content?

| Non-Commissioned Officer ![]() | Duke RULES!!! I remember playing it back on my 286 as a 'side scroller'. You are correct.... sometimes, the classics are they ONLY way to go. I've MAME setup on this box, wil over 5000; yes 5k, arcade games. From Asteroids to Zaxxon. here is a snap of my MAME screen, please note over 5000 games. ![]() Last edited by EdNigma; 09-21-2006 at 08:34. |
