Speaking of retro games, did anyone here play Steel Panthers, the WWII turn based game by SSI? If you did and liked it, a company just released a Windows version of it that takes the Steel Panthers 3 mechanics and puts it in the Steel Panthers 1 world. The best thing is that it's free. :-) You only have to put up with FilePlanet. Oh, and it's 425 MB. http://www.fileplanet.com/files/140000/142677.shtml |

I didn't reply from work. Busy... Typical! |

Very scary. Very good. Incidentally, what's everyone think of Splinter Cell (PC)? It was a tenner in HMV[1], too low a price to resist really. Is it much cop? I thought a bit of sneaky PC business might make me more successful in MGS: The Twin Snakes. Unfortunately, an approach of sneaking a bit, and then just twatting everything seems to get me nowhere. [1] And a special collector's edition too, no less. It's special because it comes in what appears to be a "Splinter Cell" handbag. I have no idea what the purpose of this is, as HMV provided me with a carrier bag that proved more than adequate at protecting my new purchase from the elements. I've not braved the mean streets of Manchester with my "Special" Splinter Cell handbag yet, but I'm quite sure that if I ever do, I will not lack for comments on it's "Special"ness from my fellow citizens. -- My Porn Name: Chritian Jammer http://www.mypornname.com/ |

It's highly enjoyable, especially when you manage to avoid *any* of the twatting by being a master of sneakage... ___ Neil AKA HighVis |

Strangely for a game that Neil likes, I didn't (the demo, anyway). A pity, as I really thought I would (I like sneaking). Good graphics and animation for Sam Fisher, and some fancy lighting effects, but I didn't think the graphics were terribly impressive otherwise. I thought the level design was poor: illogical, claustrophobic, and dated for its time. (Only one level admittedly, but it was their showcase). Controls were unintuitive, voice acting rubbish, AI stupid, menu screens consoley, map incomprehensible. I didn't finish it (actually, I couldn't get over a wall). Maybe it's a nice handbag ![]() -- Paul |
