Default New ATI graphics cards

Hi,

I just wanted to buy a Dell Dimension 8300 with ATI Radeon 9800 Pro but when
I went to the Dell website today ... the 8300 was gone. Instead you now have
the Dimension 8400 which comes with a ATI Radeon X300 SE. I keep reading on
the internet what a great videocard this really is, but I have not seen
comparisons with the 9800 Pro!
Is there anyone who knows if this X300 can be trusted: I want to play HL2
when it finally comes. Apparently Dell is now also selling this card in
their XPS gaming machine, so I guess the performance cannot be that bad, can
it?

Any thoughts?

Regards,
Jay

The Radeon X series is the next generation of Radeon cards, so obviously
they are better than their 9 series equivalents. the Radeon X series
should support DX 10 aswell (I think)... however, X300 is one of the
lower end cards, and SE usually means "****e Edition" with ATI cards (So
in other words it's Pointless - you may aswell get a 9800 pro).. i'm not
sure how many flavours the Radeon X comes in, but ideally you want a
Radeon X800.

as Ben says - the SE versions have lower memory bandwidth like 64bit as
opposed to 128 or even 256
(in the case of the 9800pro). avoid like the plague.
