Default What REALLY made you quit SWG?

I started playing about a month after BETA. Loved the game, joined a
great guild, did the missions. I think the grind got old. I was Mastering
profs just because I hadn't mastered them yet. That didn't last long.
For me, it was about 2 months prior to CU. The game just got major
boring. I did visit the test center to see "The End" coming. All my friends
I had picked up in the beginning were leaving the game in the matter of a
few weeks. I would log in and see no-one in the cantina in Swamptown. I
would end up sitting there at the cantina entranced waiting for someone to
show or something to happen. No-one would show and nothing would happen.
I kept the accounts alive because mainly I was hoping something good
would happen and I didn't want to loose my seniority and miss out on those
nifty gifts you get for investing so much money in the game. That wasn't
enough for me. I closed both of my accounts today.
All my friends went to WoW. I did some research and found that allot of
Wow players were already bored. I didn't want to go and make the same
mistake again, so I didn't go with them. So I am in search of the next game,
and another group of friends to have some good times with.
I definitely like the guild style games. There's something special when
you find that right blend of talents come together in a combat situation.
You learn the strengths and weaknesses of your guildmates and everyone is
used for what they do best. The sweetness of victory can be shared with real
people.

Wish you all the Best,

I am/was a day 3 veteran. Why did I quit?

The Combat Revamp (I refuse to call it an upgrade)

Releasing an update like this with hundreds of unadressed bugs, several
of them game-breaking. My crafters could not leave their houses, my Jedi
could not level and my rifleman/swordsman just got bored due to the lack
of content in the game.

There was also a matter of SOE's total disregard for customers, deleting
negative feedback and genreally just trying to give an impression. The
"There are a very vocal minority of maybe 50 players" comment was a bit
irritating, but John Smedley's post where he asked for more feedback
thet they could ignore was what really drove past the edge.

I will *never* buy or play another SOE game. Ever.

I'm giving the new CU a good faith effort. I'm getting to know the new
system. I was bored with the game for a while, so this is something new
to play with. Quite honestly, if it wasn't for the CU, I would have
changed games from boredom.

The thing that kept me occupied for the last six months was the space
game. Even when I was bored, I could go up, farm one of the fast-respawn
points, and keep myself occupied for an hour.

Well, the CU is out, combat is boring, the devs aren't talking, the
player base is unhappy, and once I'm done the new quests, I'll be bored
again.

Even if the CU were the MOST AMAZING THING EVER, I'd still be looking at
burnout for this game.

Now, let's get onto my real reasons for being upset.
- Released the CU too soon.
- Poor communication after release
- Exhaused devs unable to properly communicate for fix problems
- Too many sloppy mistakes. That game *is* the polish.
- New features that don't work
- Too many changes in management
- The Sony CEO

I'm looking at WoW or FFXI. One is popular, the other is more
lightheartd, and God knows I'd prefer a light-hearted game after this.

Better question one that confounds me. If you really quit why keep comming
to a newsgroup about the game?

LOL this post made me smile. Its a mystery that will never, ever be
solved. I made the mistake of giving the hate-posts on forums
credence. Never again will i ever give credit to a "I hate this game
so much that weeks after I quit i still complain online" post again.
Better we use our energy and find answers to easier solved mysteries,
such as the location of the Ark of the Covenant or how to make an army
of super-monkeys.

Reply to message from "Sardious" <yourspamsucks@dontsendit.fu> (Fri, 03 Jun

Because we still love the game as it was? Because we still hope to get a
PRE-CU server? Although it will not happen, it would be a nice "THANK-YOU"
to the people that were loyal to swg for more than 2 years.
