I've stayed away from Last Human because of the bad comments on Amazon
- but Backwards is really nice. For example, Cat gets laid in the
backwards universe (I leave the consequences to your imagination...).

For those who would like to read a bit about sophisticated VR and
possible consequences, I'd recommend "Otherland" (four books) by Tad
Williams. Good stuff, as is his "Memory, Thorn and Sorrow". ;^)

TIME FOR DOOM AND GLOOM

If the banned! Climate report is to be believed,
then 20 years from now, massive floods and global warming ,
causing mass migration of millions, and disruption of life in the costal
regions,
this is the worst case scenario of course, hopefuly wont happen.
then production of mass market PCs and other luxury goods will stop.
People will be too busy fighting for real and just surviving.
A lot of minor wars are over rivers and water rights, it would escalate
drasticaly.

Good luck on that one. I think we should have probably stopped pre-cell
phone, but that's just me.

Default Future Talk

The speed of evolution of microprocessor is doubling every 18 months,
of GPU every 12 months. With such speed, in a few years we can see the
dream of virtual reality come true.

I don't mean VR will turn our world into "Matrix". You will still feel
hungry and get to eat. I wonder and invite your imagination that how
VR will change our world?

To make a raw analogy I boldly use the replacement of film cameras by
digital cameras. An article from photo.net 4 years ago talked about
the choices of digital cameras. The first article emphasized digitals
were no way to compare with the quality of film cameras. However,
reading along the thread following the article, I found it amazing how
fast the digital evolved than most people could foresee. Today when
digitals are close but still get a few yards to go, even professional
photographers are already convinced that digital cameras will totally
replace films at a point, but stressed that it won't change the
principles that photographers create arts.

I wonder how the VR will "replace" our world. Yes, you will play BF in
full VR world. You will talk to friends from another country "face to
face" in real time. But what the world will be like? How it will
change the way you do thing - the way you work, sport, rest,
socialize, dating, and raise children? No idea is silly. Fire at Will!
