Default End of BF1942 mods?

This was snipped from a Q&A with Armando Marini (Chief designer of BFV)

<snipp>
Q: I would like to know if todays mods (like DesertCombat) for Battlefield
1942, can be easily "converted" to the BF:Vietnam engine, or must they be
made all over again? Thanks for you time.

A: They can be converted with a little time and effort. The new system will
allow the modders more features to play with as well. From a user
standpoint, the mods won't be usable until they've been converted.

Armando Marini

<end snipp>

Do you think we have seen the last versions of the popular mods based the
BF1942 engine?

no because as it says "They can be converted with a little time and
effort" I take this to mean once they are converted the devs can then
add to the mod and also have more features to play with. This is a
better answer than " no they wont work at all"

This is how I understood it too, I always said I hoped that someone
would make a WW2 mod with the new engine - maybe the Battlegroup people
will take the "little time and effort" and we can have a WW2 game with
an updated engine!!

No, just new ones, that's all. And with more features, maybe even better.

too many people are obsessed with the mods for them to wither away just yet,
should be a piece of cake to use automatic co9nversion tools to upgrade a
mod to BFV.
it uses the same con structure as BF1942 from what I have read, just new
graphics engine,
evolution not revolution to quote somebody.
we should see dual versions of the main mods for quite some time.

The only dual I want to see is dual monitor support
