Default C-130 Gunship... Mobile Spawn Point or Mobile Weapons Platform

I was playing what I think was Gazala las night on a server that I have no
clue. Anyway... I was in the C-130, orbiting bases, letting the folks in
back shell them, assisting in our team taking flags. When we would capture
one I would move to the next flag. After about 30 minutes of this I
completely flipped out, did a barrel roll in the C-130, and crashed!

The next person to take the C-130 upon its respwan kept the right side (non
gun side) toward the ground and was not presenting any targets. I asked him
to give us a target or get out of the drivers seat and let me fly it. Well,
I guess this pissed him off cause he pointed the nose down and deliberately
crashed the plane before we could get out. He respawned and proceeded to
tell me I was an idiot and that the C-130 was a mobile spawn point and the
the guns were for defense only.

I tried to have a reasonable conversation with said individual telling him
about reallife Spectre Gunships, there role, etc, etc, but he proceeded to
call me a stupid 12 year old (I am 33 and a Tech.Sergeant in the USAF), and
the conversation quickly broke down into me being insulted repeatedly and
TK'd a couple times. No big deal as I left the server.

My question is this... How does "this" community (AGB) consider the C-130?
As a weapon or as a spawn point first, weapon second? While I was flying it
we managed 8 kills before crashing. When the idiot called WhiteJay was
flying, the first time he managed 4 TK's (4 people in back of the Spectre)
and then crashed it on take off the second time.

Thanks and take care,

I agree the AC-130 *is* extremely effective if used properly, I miss it on
el AL. I'm always put on the opposition side when I join a Gazala game so I
can't fly it. When I would get on the coalition side no one would use the
main gun, or jump out the rear of it to take flags. When I do get to fly it,
I usually circle the uncaptured flag at an angle and I hold my primary
button down and call arty when targets come across my cross hairs. Usually
If I can see the target so can my gunner. I also try to keep it level so the
guys don't fall out the back unintentionally. Another tip is to close the
bay doors when not in use to keep planes from racking up kills when they
follow you.

I have played there a couple times. Maybe I will get the Chicken
Brotherhood (Chicken Nuts, Chicken Choker, Chicken Lickin, Chicken
McNuggetz, and Chicken Little (currently deployed to Iraq)) to play.
Although everyone of them but me for the most part dislikes Vanilla.

PEACE!!

Well Sarge, having had the same experiences with multiple weapons systems
time and time again in this game, I say it's a weapon first. The idea of
the game is Conquest which results from putting firepower on the enemy. Why
would any want to waste a valid weapons system by orbiting it at high
altitude for a spawn point? Having flown the gunship (in the game), and
manned it's guns, all it takes is a competent crew to be able to seriously
surpress any enemy presence in a base and thus allow the team to take the
flag. Having one or two folks jump from the back at a time usually just
results in watching them get gunned down when they hit the ground. I can
recall playing a few games with a buddy where we racked up about 30 kills in
that ship.

Just the opinions of this 30 year old Staff Sergeant with 6 years experience
as an enlisted flyer.
