Default intro to generals slow and jumpy

hi...

finding that the intro to generals is slow and sound is jumpy.
other than that the game is fine.

any ideas

using a inno3d Nvidia (pci) graphics card 64mb
asus mobo with XP2500+

every other game intro apart from the sims (another ea game) is fine
