Default Video card suggestions

What's the cheapest card I can buy ($100 to $150 price range) that will
allow me to play Half-Life 2 and Doom 3? I also bought Deus Ex-Invisible War
but can't play it cuz my Geforce2 MX400 card doesn't have "pixel shaders 1.1
or greater". Any help would be appreciated. I like Nvidia, but I'm leaning
toward an ATI card this time around.

Frank

you'll have to look for whats available at what prices in your area but my
suggestion would be
a 2nd hand GeForce4ti 4200 4400 or 4600 from Ebay
as the cheapest option or if you can afford it
a Radeon 9600 or 9600pro or 9600xt - NOT a SE.

I got a Radeon 9600 256 MB (not SE) at Comp USA for $150.00. I paid a little
more than I wanted, but I hope it runs Doom 3 and HL2 pretty well. I'm gonna
start playing Deus Ex-Invisible War this weekend!

I just upgraded from a Geforce 4 Ti4200 64 MB to a Geforce Ultra
5600XP 128 MB. The 5600 It's a mid range card by now, but it will run
Doom 3 and HL2 without problems, and it's pretty inexpensive to boot
(I paid ~$110 for it). If you're going for Geforce4 Ti4200-4600, don't
pay more than $50, tops.
