| Civilians | Hey guys. I know y'all love the 'what should I be?' questions, as the person asking is probably the only one who could answer. But I wanted to pick up a melee prof that wasnt TK, and I couldnt decide between the two. I have to admit a lot of my decision is based on rpg'ng over battle preference, though i want the prof to be good at both. I would like to take the character in a kind of samurai type direction (been watching to many Kurosawa movies lately). Swordsman sounds the most accurate, yet I noticed axes and hammers being the most widely used weapons. Is fencer any good? Thanks for any help. Ben |

Just wanted to mention that there's no such thing as too many Kurosawa movies! -Ryan |

Only negative is that swordsman are a dime a dozen. |

The good news is that you are hard to kill, but the bad news is that killing your opponent can take a while. Swordsmen kill far faster, but your defences aren't nearly so good. CH |

Swordsman also have better defences against knockdown, etc... I am a master sword and with my 2h speed shirt I can deal about 7000-8000 damage with my Ackley Power hammer (Got a 42% damage slice to 782MAX without powerup). You will not get that kind of sheer power from Fencer. I actually saw a group of three Speed capped swords take down a NS Elder in 18 seconds. But again like someone else said it depends on what you want to do. I guess the FOTM for PvP is Fencer/Combat Medic. If you want to go pure PvE, so sword. -Al |

Fencer also goes well with professions that aren't combat or pure combat, but want to stand up in combat better. (For instance, Armorsmiths who want to survive the DW bunker.) CH |
