Did any U.S. president celebrate his birthday on December 25th? 2. What is the title of the classic wintry poem that introduced the eight tiny reindeer? 3. Name the author of the perennial favorite cited in the preceding question. 4. Can you name the eight reindeer that debuted in that work? 5. What movie star/recording artist introduced "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," which is on the Top 10 list of all-time hit record sales? 6. New York Sun Editor Charles Dana's reply to a young girl's letter to the editor at Christmastime has come down as a classic. Can you name the little girl and the famous headline of the editorial reply? 7. Name the famed cartoonist who created the image of Santa Claus in Harper's Weekly as a bearded, chubby toy maker. 8. The cartoonist who created that image of Saint Nicky also created cartoon symbols of the main two U.S. political parties. What were those imaged politicos? 9. What beloved Christmas work closes with the quote: "God bless us every one"? For Bragging Rights, what character in the work delivers this classic line? 10. Name the author of the work quoted in the preceding question. Answers: 1. No U.S. president was born on Christmas Day. 2. The poem is often referred to as "'Twas the Night Before Christmas," but the actual title is "A Visit From St. Nicholas." 3. The author is Clement Clarke Moore. 4. The sleigh-hauling octet is comprised of Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder and Blitzen. 5. "Rudolph" was a classic song recorded by Gene Autry. 6. Dana's editorial to Virginia, the little girl, was memorably titled, "Yes, Virginia. There is a Santa Claus." 7. Thomas Nast came up with that image of Santa Claus. 8. Nast introduced the elephant symbol for the Republican Party and the donkey for the Democrats. 9. Tiny Tim closes the classic "A Christmas Carol" with this immortal quotation. 10. "A Christmas Carol" was the work of Charles Dickens (1812-70).
