Post 19K OSUT? and other questions

Hello everyone, This is my first post and I want to say that this is a great site and its very informative, there isent many sites out there that have info on tankers and cav. I have been looking for information on tankers, ive done alot of research on other sites and could not find anything up to date, You know how the Army makes changes all the time! since there seems to be more then a few tankers on here, maybe i can find the answers to my questions on here! I am looking for some up to date info on 19K OUST, Your experiences and training, Do they still qualify with the M9 pistol in Basic etc. I have some other questions also, Is there still a demand for tankers? Can you still enlist to be a 19K? Ive heard and read that the army is making some 19K's reclass to a different Mos Because there isent a need for tankers right now? i dont know if this is true or not, All i know is I really want to be a tanker and really not interested in anything else! I dont want to go through the training and the army tell me I have to do something else, or will i be fine through my enlistment contract.

PS: I know a recuiter can answer some of my question but he will tell me anything to get me to enlist even if he knows the job isent open

Like i said this is a great site, and any answers will be greatly appreciated Thanks.

Yes they Qualify with a 9mm and M16/M4
There is still a need for tankers
There was a while when the army did have several tankers reclass but right now I know they are not doing that,
Keep in mind no matter what MOS you choose you could end up walking or in a Humvee when deployed. Just the way it is

Post Re: 19K OSUT? and other questions

I just graduated from 19k OSUT on Friday, April 25th... Delta co. 2/81. I kept a blog about my entire experience from shipping out at meps right up until graduation day. hopefully it might help some of you out that are trying to decide whether or not to go 19kilo.
