| Junior Officer ![]() | I think DWphillip would do a fine job
__________________ War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. | Enlisted Warrior ![]() | 2/6 Cav is now an Air Cavalry Squadron assigned to the 25th ID In Hawaii. I was in E Troop 2/6 Cav Mar 80-Jun 82. We tested the Cavalry Fighting Vehicle (CFV), now the Bradley, in April 80-Oct 80. I remember doing TRs especially the 5 North ones, along with anything else Ft Knox found for us to do. Those were the "Hey-days" of FT Knox when the 194th was there doing TRs in between NTC Rotations. The Rocker Inn was the "Hot Spot" in those days, if you couldn't get a woman in there, you didn't need one. Same with the Armor Inn. The Rocker is now part of the driving range at Lindsey Golf Course, and the Armor Inn was torn down 4 or 5 years ago. The Iron Horse was torn down in the mid 80's when Burger King on Eisenhower was opened. The Recruiting Command Parking lot is now where the Iron Horse once stood. The Barracks are still there, they were renovated over 10 years ago. they are now single soldier living quarters. All of the WWII barracks and buildings have been torn down except for the LST Building. The move of the Armor Shcool and Armor assets from Ft Knox to of all places Ft Benning, kinda leaves a sick feeling in my stomach, and what's worse the local politicians made no attempt to stop it. I'll remember that when election time comes Ron lewis and Mitch McConnell. Ducit Amor Patriae {Led By Love of Country} |
