Default Should Haynesworth have been arrested???

Never mind having been sent to the locker room.

He should've had his butt hauled off to jail.

The National Football League has hit Tennessee defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth with a five-game suspension.

Wow.

Five whole games for maliciously stomping on an opponent's head and ripping the guy's face open with his cleats.

Sports experts are touting the NFL suspension as the biggest and baddest disciplinary action in league history.

I, for one, am underwhelmed.

Tell you what…

There were probably at least two-dozen uniformed police officers at that Sunday game when Haynesworth deliberately planted his cleated foot on Andre Gurode's face.

I'd sure like to know why a couple of them didn't flip Haynesworth to the ground, cuff his hands behind his back and take him in on assault charges.

What Haynesworth did was wayyyy beyond "unsportsmanlike conduct."

It was a crime.

How the hell does that get excused simply because it took place on a football field?

I see this as a professional athlete turned thug being treated as if he's above the law. Then again, he's been suspended for 5-whole games.

What a joke.

Commentary from Local Seattle reporter

I think I have to agree. At a minimum he should be suspended for the rest of the season. Sorry Tennessee, conduct like this is unexceptable. If you or I did this to somebody on the street, would we have to stay home from work for a few weeks or would we go to jail.

I love football like so many, but events like this cheapen the sport for us all when they happen.

That's assault, pure and simple. He should have been cuffed and hauled off the field to jail.
