Chargers' Foley in Fair Condition

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Chargers linebacker Steve Foley remained hospitalized in fair condition Monday, eight days after he was shot by an off-duty Coronado police officer who suspected him of drunk driving, his agent said.
Foley was shot three times - twice in the back of the left leg and once on the outside of the left thigh, agent David Levine said in a prepared statement. Foley also has what is believed to be a gunshot wound to his right hand.
When reached by phone, Levine said he had no further information on the wounds. He did, however, confirm that Foley was at Sharp Memorial Hospital. Hospital officials, citing privacy guidelines, have refused to confirm that Foley is a patient there.
Last week, San Diego County sheriff's Capt. Glenn Revell said Foley was shot in the hand, upper thigh, and lower inner thigh.
The agent's statement did not address what happened in the Sept. 3 shooting near Foley's home in suburban Poway.
"(Foley) will respond at the appropriate time and in the appropriate forum," the statement read. "For now, his efforts are being directed toward recovering from his injuries."
The shooting was Foley's second run-in with authorities in 4 1/2 months. He was arrested April 21 for investigation of resisting arrest after police said he scuffled with officers. He also was booked for investigation of battery on a police officer and public drunkenness.
The district attorney's office reviewed that case but decided there wasn't enough evidence to bring charges.
