Back in May, Ft. Knox transitioned from the Home of Armor and Cavalry, to "Strength Starts Here" with the post becoming the home of Accessions and Human Resources. With that, the 2 star rode off into the sunset, and the three star took over. The next morning a subtle but deliberate change happened. The flag was not raised at the former post flag pole, there in Brooks Field, just across from building 1. Nope, the brand new Stars and Stripes in full Garrison size was hoisted at the new flagpole, located in the center quad of the HRC. From that moment since, the post has changed daily.

Come on and visit us 2 Sep 2010, and instead of some dirt track driver with a missing front tooth, the HRC is hosting:

Search For Centenarian Yields Bag of Bones

A nationwide search for missing centenarians in...

A nationwide search for missing centenarians in Japan has led to another grisly discovery — the remains of a Tokyo woman who was believed to be 104 stuffed into her son's backpack for nearly a decade.

The police find at their apartment came weeks after the discovery of the more than 30-year-old mummified corpse of a man who had been thought to be celebrating his 111th birthday sparked concern about the very old in Japan.

Officials have fanned out nationwide since then to check on the whereabouts of citizens registered to be over 100, amid concern that some relatives have failed to report their deaths in order to draw their pension payouts.

In the latest find, made by police on Thursday in an apartment in Tokyo's Ota ward, the dead woman's 64-year-old son told officials that his mother had died nine years ago, but that he hadn't been able to afford a funeral for her.

"She died in about June 2001 in our house," the man reportedly said.

"I laid out her body for a while, washed it in the bath, then broke up the bones and put them into a backpack."

Police are investigating the man on suspicion of criminal damage to a human body and illegal pension receipt, Jiji Press and other local media reported.

The son told police that "because I didn't have money for a funeral, I didn't report her death", the Sankei Shimbun daily reported.

The ward had sent her $1800 (about R13 100) in cash gifts to celebrate what was believed to be her longevity in the past three years, reports said.

Japan has a tradition of giving birthday gifts to centenarians, but often the presents are handed to family members.

A government report said in July that Japan's average life expectancy set a world-best 86.44 years for women while men's average life expectancy came fifth globally with 79.59 years.

Japan had more than 40 000 registered people aged over 100 at last count, but by last week, officials had found that nearly 200 of them were missing.

Extremists Charged in Real Estate Racket

Self-styled "sovereign citizens" have taken over...

Self-styled "sovereign citizens" have taken over at least 19 properties in north Georgia, prosecutors say.

They claim immunity from state and federal laws and assert that banks can't own land and that any home owned by a bank is free for the taking, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The FBI has listed them as "paper terrorists." Members of the movement have been linked to multiple insurance fraud and tax evasion scams, along with some violent crimes.

Prosecutors said Georgia's sovereign citizens follow the pattern of other anarchist movements, filing lawsuits and liens against police, officials and anyone who challenges them.

Although American-born, they make up their own drivers' licenses, with seals of non-existent countries. Many of the suspects have multiple names and a history of not paying taxes.

Investigators have tied the sovereign citizens to at least 19 property thefts in Georgia, including mansions and a shopping center.

Georgia authorities have charged six people with violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corruption Organizations Act. Warrants have been issued for five others.

Prayer balloon travels 519 miles

People have prayer chains, prayer groups, prayer...

People have prayer chains, prayer groups, prayer pals. Why not prayer balloons?

A man living in upstate New York, near the Canadian border, recently found a green balloon with a note attached that read: "We love Zach, we want your prayers to bring him a new heart. Please send a prayer to Zach in Pittsburgh. Pass it on."

So the New York man and his family are praying for the Pittsburgh boy and his family thanks to a balloon that traveled 519 miles and was retrieved, oddly enough, by another little boy named Zach.

A bright green balloon carrying a message from Pittsburgh sailed through a clearing between 90-foot tall pine trees Saturday afternoon before landing softly on Chris Kormanyos' driveway -- in upstate New York.

"It was quite a way for that balloon to drift if it came all the way from Pittsburgh," he said.

Mr. Kormanyos, who is building a home in Messina, near the Canadian border, said the message came as a surprise: first, because it traveled about 519 miles, and second, because it was regarding a boy named Zach and was delivered by a child of the same name...

"One of the workers on our property's son's name is Zach, he's about 15. He's the one who found the balloon," Mr. Kormanyos said.

With no contact information listed to inquire about (Pittsburgh) Zach, Mr. Kormanyos said he and his family were unable to reach out to the balloon senders as they wanted. He said they prayed for Zach during a recent mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York.

Although the request for prayers has been filled, Mr. Kormanyos said he would like to know more about the senders and the boy they've invited into their hearts and prayers. More than that, he hopes balloons made it to many other destinations.

"... If they're looking for prayers for their son, there are a lot of prayers they can get in the Pittsburgh area without sending balloons so far," he said.

A Michigan 15-year-old whose phone number was...

A Michigan 15-year-old whose phone number was posted to Twitter by teen singer Justin Bieber said he got more than 26,000 calls and texts during the weekend.

Kevin Kristopik, 15, of Bloomfield Village -- whose number was briefly posted to the singer's Twitter account Saturday night in apparent retaliation for the teenager obtaining Bieber's phone number from a hacked Facebook page and texting him -- said he had received about 26,000 calls and texts from Bieber fans by Monday morning, The Detroit News reported.

Bieber's post, which was deleted shortly after it went up, insinuated to his 4.5 million followers that the number was his.

Kristopik's father, Mike Kristopik, said his son changed his phone number and deleted his Twitter account Monday. The father said he does not approve of his son's actions.

"If I have a $20,000 bill, I'm going to be pretty upset," he said.

The Detroit News said calls to Bieber's representatives for comment went unanswered Monday.
