| QUEEN OF THE BEASTS   |  Richard Pryor  Pathbreaking Comedian Richard Pryor Dies Richard Pryor, the caustic yet perceptive actor-comedian who lived dangerously close to the edge both on stage and off, died Saturday. He was 65. Pryor died shortly before 8 a.m. of a heart attack after being taken to a hospital from his home in the San Fernando Valley, said his business manager, Karen Finch. He had been ill for years with multiple sclerosis, a degenerative disease of the nervous system. Pryor was regarded early in his career as one of the most foul-mouthed comics in the business, but he gained a wide following for his expletive-filled but universal and frequently personal insights into modern life and race relations. A series of hit comedies in the '70s and '80s, as well as filmed versions of his concert performances, helped make him Pryor one of the highest paid stars in Hollywood. He was one of the first black performers to have enough leverage to cut his own Hollywood deals. In 1983, he signed a $40 million, five-year contract with Columbia Pictures. Richard said, "I try to make you laugh at life." Pryor was married six times. He was a funny guy. I loved his shows and movies.

| Enlisted   | Re: Richard Pryor  Richard was truly a national treasure.Controversial yet somehow we could relate to him. He spoke of things that most wouldn't, women, relationships, drugs and addiction, human nature, but more importantly he made us laugh. Thank you Rich you funny *%^$&)&^(&^$ |

| Racy Ol' Lady   | Re: Richard Pryor I enjoyed him in the Superman movie - hilarious. I don't find vulgarity funny, but he was funny. I didn't know he had multiple sclerosis; that's such a terrible thing.

| Junior Officer   | Re: Richard Pryor A multi talented entertainer that used life experiences in a way that made people laugh and then figure it out later. Red Foxx had that ability too.The only one the comes to mind now that is still living is Geo. Carlin. When Pryor could no longer entertain he did leave a void in the area of comedy. A unique man with a unique style. |
