General Officer Announcements


Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has made the following nominations:

Army Maj. Gen. James H. Pillsbury for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as deputy commanding general/chief of staff, U.S. Army Materiel Command, Fort Belvoir, Va. Pillsbury is currently serving as deputy chief of staff for logistics and operations, U.S. Army Materiel Command, Fort Belvoir, Va.

Army Maj. Gen. Carroll F. Pollett for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as director, Defense Information Systems Agency/commander, Joint Task Force – Global Network Operations/deputy commander, U.S. Strategic Command, Global Network Operations and Defense, Arlington, Va. Pollett is currently serving as chief of staff, U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Neb.
