Secretary of Defense Robert Gates will speak at the Oxford Analytica conference being held at Blendheim Palace, Oxfordshire, England at 3:00 p.m. EDT. Media interested in attending should call 44 1865 261600.
Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England hosts an honor cordon to welcome Kuwaiti Prime Minister Nasir al-Muhammad al-Ahmad al-Sabah to the Pentagon today at 2:30 p.m. EDT. The deputy secretary will represent the Department during their meeting, as Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates is currently traveling abroad. The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon River Entrance. Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the North Parking Entrance only. Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification. Please call (703) 697-5131 for escort to the cordon.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England and Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. James E. Cartwright, U.S. Marine Corps, will host the Pentagon ceremony for National POW/MIA Recognition Day at the River Entrance Parade Field on Friday, Sept. 19, 2008, at 11 a.m. EDT.
