scotto’s day off

On Wednesday after work I had a few days off so I headed up to the cabin. I got up there early in the evening and mixed a drink, started a fire and kicked back for the remainder of the evening.



The next day I woke up to a cold and overcast day so I set my “onboard navigation system” to north and headed into the woods.




it was a typical late fall day cold and gray..


I love to take up-side-down pictures…



I ended up in my home town of Naytahwash. Like in most villages on Indian reservations Naytahwash has the typical government housing projects and no shortage of poverty.


But we still have our heritage. And every village has a Pow-Wow grounds.

While there I drove out to the old Ojibwe burial grounds to pay my respects..


The Ojibwe Indians would build little houses over the graves..




When visiting such an area it is customary to leave an offering of tobacco.


I had to head back this morning to get some work done as I plan on being up there most of next week as our rez deer season opener is next Saturday.

Thanks for the tour, Scott! I've seen other reservation 'subdivisions', and they look the same.

7.62X39 (Mini-30) It’s my wife’s gun…The wife doesn’t hunt anymore so she passed it on to my daughter who loves to hunt… .I have killed a lot of deer with It but It's not the best round for whitetail. I prefer the knock down power of a .308.... It sure is fun to shoot though...
