| Non-Commissioned Officer   |  What is this saying mean... in American definition? Can I ask someone a question? What is this means...I hear it all the time. "Igonorance is a bliss? If anyone would be willing to answer that I would appreciate it, thank you! Just to remind everyone, I came from another country, so I am just wondering to find out.
__________________ Supporting a country takes alot to give to... and to put that uniform on when you swear to do it "yourself." That's the life that you except as a military soldier. In the Army, you become stronger than ever. In the Marine Corps, you become a jack of all trades, and in front of everybody to be the best and always ahead of everybody. Military is not just a summer camp, or a running service. It's a service for a country to fight for in the military and support. |

"Ignorance is bliss" can mean that by not knowing all the terrible details about something, you can remain innocent... OR, that someone is so dumb that they don't know they should be upset about something.

The person is totally unaware of what is going on around them, and is totally ignorant of impending doom.....thusly "Ignorance is bliss" The sky is falling, but I'm too absorbed in listening to Brittany Spears.... The tremendous mistake I made yesterday is about to come down on me, but I have zero clue about what is going on...

Not knowing all the circumstances, one can remain innocent, and since we associate innocence with a childlike happiness oblivious to all that is happening in the world around the child, not knowing all the background or circumstances, one remains very happy. It's the opposite of the saying, "A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing," because a little bit of knowledge doesn't give the complete picture but is enough to destroy innocence and thus robs a person or a people of their childlike faith and happiness. |
