Default It's getting cold outside. What are you favorite hot alcoholic drinks?

One of my all time favorites, especially for cool weather camping.

Peppermint Hot Chocolate

Make hot chocolate however you like it and add Peppermint Schnapps to taste.

Here's one I make up so I can have hot buttered rums when I want them. I like this better than the store bought kind.

Hot Buttered Rum Batter recipe

• 1 lb brown sugar
• 1/2 lb salted butter
• 1 tsp ground nutmeg
• 1 tsp ground cinnamon
• 1 tsp ground cloves
• 1 tsp ground cardamom
• 1 tsp vanilla

Blend all ingredients and store in the fridge or freezer. To make a drink add a shot of good dark rum along with 1 or 2 Tablespoons of batter to a mug of very hot water.

Hot Buttered Peach drink

• 1 1/4 oz Southern peach liqueur
• 4 oz hot water
• 1 tsp butter
• slice of lemon

Stir the peach liqueur and hot water together in a coffee mug. Float butter on top. Garnish with a slice of lemon.

Hot Penny Rum recipe

• 1 1/2 oz rum
• 1/2 oz bourbon whiskey
• 2 tsp dark creme de cacao
• 4 oz hot coffee
• 2 oz heavy cream

Pour the rum, bourbon whiskey, creme de cacao and coffee into an Irish coffee cup or glass. Float the cream on top by pouring it over the back of a teaspoon, and serve.

Tom and Jerry

• 3 eggs, separated (get pasturized eggs)
• 3 tbsp of powdered sugar
• 1/2 tsp of ground allspice
• 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
• 1/2 tsp of cloves
• 3 oz. of brandy
• 6 oz. of dark rum
• 3 1/4 cups of hot milk (or hot water)
• Grated nutmeg

Beat egg whites to a stiff froth. Separately beat egg yolks until they are light in color, gradually adding powdered sugar and spices. Fold yolk mixture into whites.

Divide mixture between four 8 oz. mugs. Add 1/2 shot of brandy and 1 shot of rum to each mug. Fill with hot milk. Stir well, and top with nutmeg.

It's been in the high 80's/low 90's here of late, Katie - but when the November air starts to get nippy, I LOVE hot chocolate spiked with Stoli, Kahlua (sp?) mixed into my coffee, or a shot of Bailey's mixed in to warm my inners.

I had some very good Gluhwein I brought back from germany, and my friend Darla gave me a great recipe for mulled wine (basically the same thing).

1 bottle of cheap red wine
1/2 cup of sugar (or to taste)
2 cinnamon sticks
1 orange, cut in half and aerated with whole cloves

simmer together on stove. Gets more potent the longer it's on. Also, you feel the effects much more than with a glass of room-temperature or cold wine.

Good stuff!

Cold here...

A simple Blackberry brandy works for me...
Sort of creates it's own heat...

It would be good. Another good one is Apricot Brandy. My mother and I would have that when we were in Switzerland/Austria in their cold winters.

I've never had ginger brandy, but it doesn't sound very good.

I just remembered that I forgot to make Cherry Bounce this year. It's good and you just use fresh cherries and some brandy and sugar and let it ferment (well you stir it for about a week). Dang!
